Beverly Snyder and Tom Snyder live in the outskirts of Asheville, North Carolina up against a wild mountainous region. For years, since they puchased their house, a three legged female black bear, they named Sarah visits muliple times a day currently with her three cubs. They've put out a kitty pool on their porch where the bears often drink and bathe. Since she is a handicapped bear, they feed her bird seed to help her survive. The lock on the sliding door to their house is broken, and Sarah will often break in when they are not home and steal the entire bucket of bird seed they keep by the front door. Beverly and Tom are both veterans on diability and Sarah helps Beverly deal with her PTSD. Beverly's neighbor, David Voyles owns the house next door, and they also feed and take care of Sarah. They have named her Ilene. David would not like pictures of himself published, but Beverly and Thomas have signed releases.
